Key Technologies For Biodegradable Packaging Bags

Different types of biodegradable materials vary in terms of strength, flexibility, heat resistance, and degradation characteristics; therefore, the appropriate material must be selected based on the packaging bag's intended use. For instance, PLA offers excellent transparency and processability, whereas PBAT provides superior flexibility; the two can be combined to meet specific product requirements. By carefully controlling the material ratio, it is possible to ensure good degradation performance while maintaining the bag's essential functional properties.

Film forming technology is another critical stage in the production of biodegradable packaging bags. Because the processing characteristics of certain biodegradable materials differ from those of conventional plastics, requirements regarding processing temperatures, extrusion speeds, and cooling conditions also vary. During blown film or cast film processes, improper control of parameters can lead to issues such as uneven film thickness, surface irregularities, or insufficient strength. Consequently, equipment parameters must be adjusted according to material properties to ensure consistent film thickness and robust mechanical performance, thereby laying a solid foundation for subsequent bag-making operations.

Bag-making and heat-sealing technologies also significantly influence the performance of the final product. Biodegradable films are sensitive to temperature and pressure during heat sealing; excessive temperatures can cause film deformation, while insufficient heat may result in weak seals. Therefore, the optimal heat-sealing temperature, pressure, and duration must be determined based on the specific material to ensure adequate seal strength. For products such as food bags and shopping bags, the bag structure should be adjusted according to size and load-bearing requirements to enhance overall stability.

The degradation and environmental performance of biodegradable packaging bags are also key areas of focus. Since degradation rates vary depending on whether the material is exposed to natural environments, composting conditions, or industrial processing, one cannot simply assume that all biodegradable bags will decompose rapidly in any setting. During product design and manufacturing, it is essential to test material degradation properties while simultaneously addressing requirements for strength, service life, and environmental impact. Only by striking a reasonable balance between functional performance and degradation characteristics can biodegradable packaging bags truly meet practical application needs.
